Job Description: The URS Process Technology Office, located in Austin, TX, is aggressively growing to keep pace with the ever-expanding Power market, and the stringent restrictions being placed on the emission of pollutants. Currently, the majority of our work is domestic, and directed towards the development and commercialization of value-added air pollution control (APC) processes for coal-fired power plants. Technology offerings include, but are not limited to, those designed to significantly reduce the emission of pollutants that contribute to acid rain, global warming and mercury contamination.
This position is for a mid-level Chemical Engineer which reports to the Process Engineering Team Leader in URS' Technology Development (TD) Department. The TD Department is composed of approximately 20 chemical engineers and chemists who develop and evaluate air and water pollution control technologies for industrial clients. To accomplish this mission, members of the TD department work in the laboratory to perform preliminary evaluations of new technologies and work at industrial sites (e.g., power plants) to demonstrate technologies at pilot- and full-scale. A mid-level Chemical Engineer will serve as a technical lead responsible for designing laboratory-scale experiments and full-scale demonstrations for assessing the viability of various pollution control technologies. The position is responsible for the management and successful execution of projects including laboratory experiments and full-scale air pollution control demonstrations. The position will also work with a team of chemists and engineers at a variety of experience levels to successfully execute projects for clients. The job will include hands-on work in laboratory and/or field environments as well as in an office environment. This position requires travelling, usually as part of a team, to industrial sites to evaluate/demonstrate pollution control technologies.
